In the school picnic we have been put into groups amongst the whole school. They are different countries. I was put in new zealand. You had to be relaited to that country. Or some people were nz but they put them into different groups. Like one of my friends Soph was put in Australia. And another of my friends was put into the Bolkons, Annabel. So these guys did not know about their country that was why they put them in their. Be free to vist their wikis. This week we went to MOTAT! We went because our topic is COMMUNICATION. We have been looking forward to this trip!!!!. So when we finally got there we were sat down to learn about MOTAT. There were three classes so it was a very small space. The other classes went on monday. So when we were done learning about MOTAT we looked what we were doing today.
First we were going to a special class room. With a lady called Elien. She talked to us about all the types of communication. We were so amazing how many their were!!!!! The one that I found interesting was the painting. Before people could read or write they used to draw paintings. It was really interesting because the couldn't send it by planes or pigeon post because their was no such thing.
We also went on a tram from Melbourne!!!! It was really fun and it was cool that a man told us all about it. We also went on a hunt!!!!!! In our groups we had to find things all around MOTAT!!!! It was really hard to find them. We got stuck on one because it was not a house it was in a big room!!! We also went to find something but we saw some stilts!!!!! So a group and our group were try to walk on them but they were way to hard. But a girl called Keriah got 20 steps on them!!!!!!!!! Well done Keraih!!!!!!!!!!

This week we have too interview our parents or grand parents or even great grand parents. The question was "How did people communicate around the world in the past?" I interviewed my mum and she said "Their were lots of ways. You had no cell phone so you could not have texted. So you would have to write a letter. Some people even used pigeon post."
The next question was "How do we communicate we communicate with people around the world today?" "Their is now allot of ways to communicate like e-mail, skype, texting ect." Can you see that things are getting more complicated as the years go by?

This week we have been designing our cover for our natrual product. We have called ours NATRUAL BUSTER BEE it was Sophie's idea. we have been working very hard on it. The scent is honey.

This week we have been using something called a agar plate and a swab. You get a swab and u find a really dirty place e.g sponge. Then you use the swab and rub it all over the surface of it. Now you should have put the agar plates in to the fridge for at least 1 hour and you get the swab and rub it into the agar plate. Store over 37.

We are making a antibacterial product! We have been putting a lot of thought into making a CLEANER. Thursday we were talking about how we are going to make it smell and everything! We have also been using the agar plates. They are these plates that comes with a swab and you find a place in the house or some where, then you have to use the swab and rub it against the object and then rub it on the agar plate.

In room 26 we are learning about bacteria. My group is finding out what are the ingredients in the dettol product. It is quite interesting and we learnt that it is NOT a natural product. The people in my group is Sophie, Annabel, Rama and myself. Did you know you can only see bacteria in a microscope? Well this is true. Bacteria is very small which means you can only see it in a microscope.

My speech is about free range eggs. I have five reasons and nearly into my conclution. It is a really hard topic. I have been putting 100% effort into it.
Holidays
In the holidays I went to visit my Gran on my own. I was really bored on the plane by myself. When i got there i was so happy to see my gran and grandad even know it was terribly cold!!!

I think group 1(group 1 is my group)is doing very well. We have changed the music so our coming in shapes are different and have included better moves. We still need to practice but Polly and Holly are trying to help us they are doing a great job! Our asembelly is next week. Last week we made some masks which we will be performing with at our asembelly. This week we are making our dance and we are basing our dance on Maui and the goddess of fire. Once upon a time there was a greek god called Zeus. Zeus had married a women called Hera. Zeus thought Hera was a bit scary so he did not talk to her much. When Cronos retired,(Zeuses dad) the boys divided the world up between them. Zeus took the sky, Poseidon took the sea, and Hades ruled under the earth, the home of the dead. At first, it was great fun. But things had been just a bit slow lately. Zeus thought about what he could do.He could turn himself into an octopus and visit his brother Poseidon under the sea, but he didn't feel much like a swim. He could visit Hades under the earth, but Hades was so gloomy .He could hurl thunderbolts, but it wasn't much fun without a target. He could hunt up one of the other gods. But the truth was, all the other gods were terrified of Zeus. He did have a bad temper but only when someone lied to him. He could call for his wife, Hera. But he couldn't let Hera know. Zeus flew down to earth and looked around for something to do. He spotted two men walking along a lane. Zeus cast his voice to make it sound like somebody else was speaking. He was very good at that. "Hey stupid," Said Zeus hoping to start a fight.One man turned to the other angrily. "What did you say?" And before you could say Zeus, they were punching each other. Zeus found that very funny.A glint on the river caught his eye. It was Io, a lovely river nymph."What a lovely young woman," Zeus said. He suddenly fell in love.Hoping to hide himself from the eagle eye of his jealous wife, Zeus covered the world with some really thick clouds. Then he flew down to Io. But Hera was not stupid. The thick coat of clouds made her suspicious immediately.Zeus looked up. "It's Hera!" he gulped.Quickly, Zeus changed Io into a cow. When Hera landed, all she found was an innocent looking Zeus standing next to a little white cow."This little cow appeared out of nowhere," he told his wife, acting surprised.Hera was not fooled. "What a beautiful cow," she gushed admiringly. "May I have it as a present?"Not knowing what else to do, Zeus had to agree. Hera sent the cow away under guard.Zeus arranged for Io to be rescued and set free. He sent his son Apollo to sing the guard asleep. When the guard closed his eyes, Io ran away.When Hera heard about it, she sent a gadfly after Io. A gadfly is a fly that bites."Moo moo," Io screamed, when the gadfly found her.Io swam across a sea, hoping the gadfly would drown on the trip. No such luck, although Hera did name the sea between Greece and Rome after Io. Perhaps you've heard of it - the Ionian Sea? No matter.Feeling very sorry for herself, a dispirited Io traveled next to Egypt.It was then that Hera decided that Io had suffered enough. First, she made Zeus promise that he would never see Io again. Then she changed Io back into human form, and left her in Egypt.Egypt was a dismal place for a river nymph. There are crocodiles in the Nile.
Cultural sharing day!!!!!!!!!!!!
Last week we had cultural sharing day!!!!! That is when you bring something in from home and it has to be about your family. I did my great, great grandfather also known as Alexander MacKay. This is my speech I presented.
"Hi, today I want to talk about one of my ancestors Alexander Mackay who was an important man for Maori in the 'top of the South' in New Zealand around 150 years ago. Alexander is my Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather. He came to New Zealand in 1840 on a boat called the Slains Castle from Scotland – he was younger than us (he was 7) when he arrived. The following painting of him and his family arriving in New Zealand is on display in Te Papa (the Museum of New Zealand) in Wellington. He is famous with Maori people because he tried to stop the Government from stealing the land of the Maori's in Nelson. A court case in Wellington is currently being fought between Maori and the Government over land and my Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather is the leading witness – over a hundred years after he died."
DANCE!!!!!
In dance this week we have learnt what locomotive and non-locomotive mean. Locomotive means that you are moving and using your arms and legs. Non-locomotive means that you are on the spot moving around.
On Mondays and wednesday we go into our hall and do dance. We do things like different shapes high and low. We also create space, like making your personal space. And make a bubble, then you feel the out sides of your bubble. Then our teacher(Miss Eliss) puts on some music and we create a little dance. Then we get put into partners and we teach each other our dance that we made up. Then we might put them toghther and we perform it to the class. I think dance is so fun I hope we do it for the whole year. We each have partners mine was Holly(Holly's page is the tenth one down the page on the left hand side). I think that Holly and I did really well!

Garden to table
At the start of the year (in garden to table) we split our whole class in half. So one half would do gardening and the other half would do cooking. We offen to make things like Pasta and bread. While the gardeners harvest and plant other fruit and vege's. At the end of the season we have all the food(that the cookers make) to eat. Then we talk about all the things that the gardeners and cookers did. And the each of our groups will have a job to do. Like put the chairs away,worm food scraps in the worm food bin.

In our classroom we are doing paintings. We are learning new teqneqes like wet on wet. This is when you quickly cover the whole page with water, then you make a sea reflect(good colors are blue,green and purple). It should come out like a mussels inside. The next one is wet on dry. This is when you have wet paint but a dry surface. So it is a little like wet on wet but a dry surface(you could do nearly anything with this teqneqe). This is my favourite one. Last but not least is dry on dry. This is dry paint on a dry surface. I learnt that there is not only one teqneqe but there are way more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will also will be painting endangered sea animals.
EOTC
We went to EOTC week. We went to the Marae. Learnt that the statue that sits at the top of of one tree hill is the boss of Auckland. We also went to tree Adventures. We were aloud to do the first 4 levels. We were really exited I think that tree Adventures was the best. Then we went to orienteering. I LOVED to clip the paper! I was running maddly so we could win!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we did the wave pools!!!!!!! The waves were awesome! The hydro slide was the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
